3 March 2007: UNDERSTANDING AFGHANS
The launch conference of the European Centre for Afghan Studies.
The conference was a great success, many thanks to all those who
attended and especially to: the volunteers who helped ensure the day
went so smoothly; Afghan Association Paiwand; the speakers; the
workshop leaders; SOAS for hosting the event; and Awards for All for
funding the event.

Please go to the
conference page for more details.

22 February 2007: ECAS has been accepted by JISCMail (The National
Academic Mailing List Service) to host its own discussion list. This online
forum enables you to take part in online discussions concerning any issues
regarding Afghanistan and its worldwide diaspora, to inquire about
resources such as publications or post your own events and other pieces
of information. Through this system ECAS will then easily be able to
forward this to all subscribed members. This list is purely for the exchange
and discussion of issues that are non-political, and the content of the list
will be moderated. If you wish to subscribe, please go to:

You can only receive messages from the forum and post messages yourself
if you are registered. However, the service is for free and the procedure
only takes a couple of minutes. Instructions on how to participate in the list
will then be sent to you.
